Sobeys Milton

I've heard that UFCW 175 and Sobeys has come to an agreement.... Could anyone give me the details as to what they got or lost?

I would like the particulars please, a 2$ raise over two years is good but what was top rate before? As well there is something in their contract about Company policy and the union having some kind of say. A copy of the Agreement would be nice to look at.

Sorry, can't help you there.

DOUGLE,

I have seen the contract and all you need to know is this ... in comparing the Contract negotiated by the UFCW for Sobey's workers in Milton last week and the Contract negotiated the CAW for the Sobeys workers in Whitby a few months ago ... the Contract negotiated by the UFCW is superior, period, end of story. That's the truth.

DUFFMAN,

You are not funny and clearly not that smart either. I am not sure why you have to make a crack about the UFCW "spinning" the story of the Contract they negotiated. It is better than the one your beloved CAW negotiated. Deal with it. You have no answer no comeback. It is right there in black and white.

As Chretien said where is a proof, a proof is a proof.

DOUGLE,

You asked for proof you will get it. I am going to make sure copies of both the Whitby and Milton contracts get to you through a third party.

Now why is it the board moderators and supervisors have to throw in their biased two cents worth into everything. Let us, the posters, discuss, debate, argue, criticize, praise, and stay out of it.

Listen your cracks like Chretien's "the proof is the proof where is the proof" and copying, pasting comments and labelling them as classic are not funny. However, if you want funny you will get funny but by then I am sure you will change your tune and criticize someone being funny, legitimately.

Why don't you board "moderators" go shopping for new pocket protectors or arm bands for your jobs as Grade 6 Hall Monitors, or a life.

My comment wasn't meant to be funny. It was intended to demonstrate a specific, and really rather tired, rhetorical tactic used regularly by trolls and union officials alike.

But I'm glad it upsets you so.

SLEK,

You said you are glad that it upsets me.

You haven't been "glad" in years. The last time you were glad I believe Abe Lincoln was sitting somewhere writing out the Gettysburgh Address.

Okay, great.

I look forward to seeing the Sobeys Milton contract posted on the UFCW Local 175 website as a shining example of what those hacks at the CAW can only aspire to achieve and as a template for all other future UFCW collective agreements. Heck, I would like to use it for my own [UFCW] upcoming contract negotiations.

It is not unusual for a news release to have a spin on it from the organization that submits it. By spin I mean only the highlights in general terms are offered, not what concessions were or were not made to achieve the "new union contract win."

By the way, I was not trying to be funny or smart either. I am sorry if your sense of humour and your superior intellect have been offended.

I am also not sure how I came to be associated with the "beloved CAW". I have been a UFCW union local executive member for 16 years. That does not mean I cannot offer opinions on the UFCW or the CAW for that matter. Any forthright democratic organization should be open to all viewpoints, whether from flag-wavers or nay-sayers.

That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

DUFFMAN,

What you say is true. I was off in my comments, you have my apology.

Collective Agreement at Milton was negotiated and ratified by members.

What the hell?? When the poster was part of the CAW.. he was not worthy and when he reveals that he is a UFCW executive member he gets a public apology!! If I said I was an executive member of "your group" would I get my ass kissed too?

Sobeys Milton the Highlights of the Agreement are good like the overtime, Part-time benefits( they don't say what they get), the reward for attendance ( one paid day for every month without callin in or more than 3 lates or early leaves), and the unused sick days accumilated gets paid out at the end of the year,
The two tier wage scale I think sucks when unions agree or negotiate it. New full time start at $15.00 and current will start at $16.00 the progression is different but both will end up at the end of their 3rd year at a top rate of $18.85. For existing part-time employees a start of $14.38 and goes up 50 cents a year, up to the next pay level after 500 hours then after 2000 hours to top part time rate. after their 3rd year being $16.73.
For the new employees it's a start of $14.50 (which is a better start) but it goes up 25 cents a year and after 2000 hours go to the next pay level ten wait another 2000 hour to get to the next. and after their 3rd year get $16.00.
It seems to me that this is starting to become a trend with UFCW to screw new union members with this two tier BS either money or seniority (MG).
I would have see to whole Agreement not just what was negotiated. As for the whitby (CAW) you only gave me every other page so....... reading it would be tough. I got all the even number pages I would like to see the odd.
