Teamsters Local 938 - A UFCW Connection?

My, my, what's this? Some Teamsters making a fuss about some very unusual practices at one of their Toronto locals.

The poster at the top of this thread makes reference to Cliff Evans and some of the benefits administrators who are connected to the UFCW as well.

What could this be about? Secret Agent must find out.

Other secret agents: If you search the www.teamster.net message board for "bartolotti" or "local 938", you'll get a good idea of the issues these reformers are raising. If you follow the discussions, it's easy to determine the union officials' posts also.

Now what would the UFCW and the Teamsters have in common?

Let's see, Ron Kelly, of Kelloryn fame, bought an old Teamsters building and now UFCW Local 351 is housed there. That's the Local 351 that for the most part used to be Textile Processors Local 351 that was owned by Tommy Corrigan who also owned a Teamsters local and who sold his union building in Toronto that eventually wound up in Cliff Evans' son John Evans' hands. And that building was registerd to a company that Ralph Ortlieb was a director, the same Ralph Ortlieb that is now the President of UFCW Local 351.....

Stop! I've got to stop.... I'm out of breath, I'm dizzy. Gotta catch my breath, I'll be back with more....

I think what this convoluted web of relationships shows us is how out of sync the biz-unionists' priorities are with the priorities of their members. What the hell does all this wheeling and dealing among honchos have to do with advancing the cause of the Power Source? How does the Power Source benefit from all this back-scratching and hob-nobbing?

If these leaders spent half as much time taking care of the interests of their members as they do on this mutual ...um... gratification, the Power Source would be much further ahead.

The more we expose it, the sooner it will end. So pop some Gravol, weiser and let's get on with our important work.
